The slogan which is almost becoming a cliché is that Sisekelo Hostel is “a home away from home”. This is because the comfort of the learners at the hostel is of paramount priority. The comfortable and conducive “homelike’ environment, enables the learners to focus on their core business of learning when at school.
Sisekelo provides a balanced and varied school curriculum designed to meet the academic, cultural and social needs of individuals from diverse backgrounds.
The academic year is divided into six cycles. Five cycles constitute the Continuous Assessment and the year-end examinations form Cycle 6. The Home Room teacher, together with the subject teacher and the Head of Academic Studies monitor the progress of each individual student.
Participation in sport is compulsory on two afternoons per week, throughout the year. Sisekelo offers a wide variety of sporting activities. Team sports include athletics, badminton, basketball, cricket, cross country, hockey, netball, rugby, soccer, squash, swimming, volleyball and tennis.
Extra Curricular Activities
Culturals, Societies, Clubs and Hobbies: These activities may change each term, but include a wide variety of interests such as arts and crafts, board games, a magazine club, Bible study, weight lifting, aerobics, public speaking and drama. Grade 11: Tour of tertiary institutions in Gauteng.
